Faith, in yourself and something even bigger, is the cornerstone to building the life you want to live.
I want to have a conversation around Faith, and what having it means. I ask that you be open. Truly open. Don’t shut down or close off. Try to leave your worldview aside for a moment and be willing to try this on.
We often hear of Faith when talking about God or religion, but the purpose of Faith holds true in a non-religious sense as well. Like when you are fighting for a life that you desire or an outcome that you want and that no one else can see. There is truly no distinction between the two.
Faith is believing in something you can’t see and can’t prove but that you know/believe to be true. The same holds true when talking about your dreams and aspirations, just as it would be true for an inventor or innovator.
Maybe you stopped seeing and believing long ago because of circumstances or experiences that you have had in your life.
Possibly you quit before realizing your dreams. Figured that it just wasn’t “in the cards” for you to live the life you always hoped for. You’ve settled with the thought that you will just have to play the hand you were dealt.
Maybe you’re afraid to take a stand for what you believe. There was a time or two in your life when you went after your dreams, but it didn’t materialize. You would push and work and believe, but it was always followed up by disappointment, so you quit and lost hope. You haven’t been able to see the actual, hard concrete results or proof in your hand.
Faith to me is the belief that before the proof of what I am waiting for has happened, I know it will happen. I know it is true. I don’t need to see tangible evidence.
When you don’t believe you will receive the payoff, that is not FAITH. Rather, it is a lack of FAITH. Whether it’s a lack of faith in yourself, or in the possibilities of your dreams becoming a reality, refusing to believe building that life is possible without first having solid proof is what’s holding you back from reaching your goals.
We share our hopes, dreams, and aspirations with others because we are excited, only to have them crushed and torn down, often by the ones we love the most. These dream stealers can’t see it’s possible for themselves and don’t want to be passed by in their life. Or they once remember going after their dreams and having faith only to see their dreams end in disappointment. They don’t want you to experience the same letdown. So, with good intentions, they think that they are doing you a favor by cautioning you or even outright telling you to quit.
But what they’re forgetting is that most things, if not all things, that are truly worth having require FAITH.
The leaders and bold men and women throughout history who have truly made a difference in the world, have done so with this faith.
All the great rewards or treasures require a conviction, a FAITH and/or Holy Cause so strong it does not matter what or who tries to get in your way. Because you know without a doubt and believe unfalteringly that what you can visualize for you and what you believe to be true—even though it has not happened yet—is, in fact, TRUTH.
It is faith that gets you to move each day. That gets you to push through time after time of supposed failure and shortcomings, never to be stopped—because in your mind and your world it is as though it is already done.
All because you dare to have FAITH in something much bigger than you.
