Focus on You: Stop Trying to be Everything to Everyone

nate bailey, focus, focus on yourself, big 4

Focus on your own goals. No one else is going to make your dreams come true. That’s on you and you alone.

Stop trying to be everything to everyone. That’s a fool’s errand. You are never going to reach your goals if you spend all of your time and energy trying to be everything to everyone else instead of keeping your eyes in your own lane and moving forward.

Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing or what your competition is doing. The only thing you have control over is yourself. Whatever everyone else is doing has no bearing on your growth or success.

Head down, do the work in front of you. Keep moving forward. That’s the most important thing you can do to reach the next level. If you’re worried about what the guy next to you is doing, you may miss an opportunity, or you may drop a ball. And neither of those things are worth worrying about what your competition is doing.

One day you will look up and the competition will be behind you. I know that sounds counterintuitive. But I am speaking from experience. Whether it’s in a 100-mile ultra marathon, your business, or any other goal inside your life and the Big 4 you’re striving for, if you just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and don’t allow yourself to get distracted by the noise around you, one day you’ll look up and you’ll be closer to the finish line than you could possibly imagine.
